As many of you, Clagett Farm is suffering the aftermath of Isabel. Last Wednesday we spent the day battening down the hatches. Most of Thursday was spent on hunkered down mode. On Friday we went back to harvesting. Fortunately, we did not get as much rain as we feared. The farm, though, did lose electricity and water. As of this writing (Sunday night) the farm is still out power and water. We were told that it might last several more days.
KOLYA, HOPE THINGS AREN'T TOO DIFFICULT RIGHT NOW. DID YOU GET A LOT OF DAMAGING WINDS? WITH ALL THE CRAZINESS, DO YOU EXPECT THERE WILL BE A PICKUP ON TUESDAY AT DUPONT CIRCLE? ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE AT CLAGGETT FARM! DAVID C.

David,
Thanks for the note. We didn't have much wind damage. Perhaps because we spent most of Wednesday getting ready for it--putting things away, boarding up the barns, and so on. Granted, Isabel hit other places much harder, but we like to think that our work paid off. As to the crops, many okra plants were bent by the wind, but that's about it. All this rain, though, is more than our crops need right now. Our tomato and melon fields certainly do not look very happy about it.
And yes, there will be a pick up on Tuesday at Dupont Circle as well as at the farm.
